How I Took Control Of My Health

You Can Too

It was 1995 and we - my wife and I were truck drivers. Driving all over the U.S.A. and sometimes into Canada. At times we would be gone from home up to 6 weeks. If you look at many truck drivers you find a lot of them in terrible condition. I have saw some that could hardly get in and out of their truck because of their size. We would see the 'bigger around' people are the more they eat. Anyway, the point is that it is hard to eat right and take care of your health when you sit up to 11 hours a day and eat truckstop food all the time.

The year before we had lived in the Philippines for a few months and I had some kind of fungus or something on my arm. I went to the doctor to get something for it and the nurse took my blood pressure. It was 'out of sight' so the doc told me to check it every day for a week and come back to see him.

I never went back, Lois, my wife and I talked it over and decided to change our eating habits. for several weeks we ate the best we could out on the road but were not really satisfied with what we were able to do. So, we quit driving and stayed home for a year. Lois learned how to cook vegan and we stopped eating all meat, eggs, and dairy products. We cut out anything but vegetables and fruits.

Within a short time my blood pressure started to come down without any medication. It is now 14 years later and I am 68 years old and Lois and I both take no medication.

Now why am I telling you this? Because I believe we can control our health and other things concerning our destiny if we want. We have a free will to do with as we please. Is our will to be over weight? Maybe not but if we don't want to be over weight why don't we do something about it?

It's like when I quit smoking, I tried many times but always let temptation overcome me. Finally when I shut that door or escape route as I call trying, I closed the door and that was it, cold turkey. It was not hard when that decision was made. That was almost 35 years ago and I have no temptation at all to ever smoke again. I have spent many hours around smokers in jail and prison cells among other places without having a desire for a cigarette.

You can do it, you can take control of your health, you can resist the temptation. It is your world, your life, your body, who is your master going to be? Will it be food? or nicotine, or whatever has control of your life? Only YOU have the power to change it and I KNOW you can do IT.

    These days, over 95 percent of grains are highly processed, an industry that is only 100 years old. Processed grains come in the forms of white flour, white bread, cakes, soft drinks, fruit juice, cordials, cereals, chocolate, sugar and it's products and anything that contains other sweeteners such as fructose, syrups whether made from corn or maple and palm sugar. This usually means a lot of the goodness is destroyed leaving simple carbohydrates or sugars.
